The Japanese sports and superbike manufacturer, Kawasaki, is gearing up to unveil the revamped and locally manufactured version of its much-anticipated Versys-X 300. It has been reported by Autocar India that this motorcycle could be launched by the end of this year. Kawasaki is aiming to provide heavy localization for this already popular adventure motorcycle. Recently, a prototype of the localized Kawasaki Versys-X 300 was spotted testing in the country.

Once launched, the new Versys-X 300 will become Kawasaki’s third model to be manufactured in India. It will be following in the footsteps of the Ninja 300 and W175. As per the reports, Kawasaki is planning to leverage its local resources and production capabilities.
This will help Kawasaki optimize manufacturing costs. Additionally, it will also help the company to offer competitive pricing in the price-sensitive Indian market. Earlier, this bike was priced at Rs 4.6 lakh, which many believed was extremely steep.
Versys-X 300: Details
The Kawasaki Versys-X 300 is a quintessential adventure motorcycle. It gets a tall windscreen, aggressive-looking front fascia, and large side fairings. It also features an upswept exhaust and a tall riding height.
In terms of its mechanical specifications, this motorcycle will come equipped with a conventional telescopic fork at the front. Meanwhile, in the rear, it will get a mono-shock. The Versys-X 300’s braking system will comprise disc brakes at both ends supported by dual-channel ABS.
Additionally, the Kawasaki Versys-X 300 will ride on 19 and 17-inch spoked wheels and tubed tires. The overall weight of this adventure motorcycle will be approximately 185 kg. Also, it will have a ground clearance of around 180mm. This tall ride height and ground clearance will help the bike in off-roading.
Kawasaki Versys-X 300: Engine
Coming to the powerplant of this adventure motorcycle, it will be offered with a potent 296cc parallel-twin engine. This engine is also shared with the iconic Ninja 300. While powering the Versys-X 300, it will be boasting 39 bhp and 26.1 Nm of torque. This power-packed engine will come mated to a 6-speed gearbox.
Kawasaki Versys-X 300: Rivals and pricing
This upcoming bike will be positioned in the 300-500cc adventure motorcycle segment. Once launched, the Versys-X 300 will rival the likes of the KTM 390 Adventure and BMW G 310 GS. It will also be taking on the Royal Enfield Himalayan 450 as well.
Industry insiders anticipate the Versys-X 300 to be priced competitively between Rs 3.6 to Rs 3.9 lakh (ex-showroom). This will be a significant departure from its previous sky-high price tag of Rs 4.6 lakh. Most likely, this time around, the bike will offer stiff competition to the bikes already thriving in the segment.
2024 Kawasaki Z900 launched in India
Earlier in February of this year, Kawasaki launched the 2024 Kawasaki Z900 in the country. The updated Kawasaki Z900 has been launched with a price tag of Rs 9.29 lakh (ex-showroom). This is Rs 9,000 more than the previous model year bike.
The 2024 Z900 comes equipped with a 948cc in-line four-cylinder engine. This motor delivers a maximum power output of 123.6bhp and 98.6Nm of torque. It comes mated to a six-speed gearbox.
