One of the most anticipated launches from Maruti Suzuki this year is the Swift. The all-new hatchback has already been launched internationally, and we are expecting it to get launched in the market next month. We now have reports that suggest that some of the Maruti Suzuki dealerships have already started accepting bookings for the upcoming Swift unofficially.
Customers who are interested in buying the next-generation Swift can book the car by making a payment of Rs 11,000. While there is not much information available about the car officially, we expect it to be offered in variants LXi, VXi, ZXi, and ZXi+. The car has been spotted testing on Indian roads several times, and it looks similar to what Suzuki offers internationally.
Some of the features available in the international version won’t be offered in the Indian version. In terms of design, the Maruti Swift is an evolution from the older version. The car gets a completely redesigned front with a clamshell design for the bonnet. The car also gets sleeker-looking headlamps with integrated LED DRLs. The front grille design has also been updated, and it comes with a chrome outline and black interiors.
The lower variants might get halogen headlamps, while the higher versions would see projector units. The side profile of the car looks similar to the previous version but is slightly longer than before. It also offers more space on the inside. The position of the rear door handle has also been updated. In the previous generation, the door handle was on the C-pillar. However, in this new-gen Swift, the handle is on the door itself.
The rear of the car gets clear lens LED tail lamps, an integrated roof spoiler, and Swift branding. The design of the tail lamps and the bumper also looks like an evolution from the previous version. The international variant offers a boot space of 265 litres.
The interior of the new Swift has been completely updated. It comes with a layered dual-tone dashboard. The design of the dashboard is new. The Swift comes with a floating-type infotainment touchscreen system. This is the same unit seen in other Maruti models. The car is available with a multi-function steering wheel, color MID, push start button, and many more features.
Coming to the engine options, the upcoming Swift is expected to be powered by a brand new engine. It is going to be a 1.2-liter, 3-cylinder, naturally aspirated engine that is tuned for better efficiency and performance in the city. The Z12E series engine is expected to get mild hybrid tech, which Maruti offers in its other models. This engine is expected to be offered with both manual and AMT gearbox options.
Other than this, Maruti is also working on a strong hybrid version. It will be using a different technology in which the engine will be used as a generator only to recharge the batteries. This system is called Series Hybrid.
We would be seeing this technology first in the Fronx, and Maruti is expected to bring this technology to the next-gen Swift and the upcoming next-generation Dzire sedan.
