Toyota Taisor: Most Affordable Base E-Trim In A Walkaround Video

The badge-engineered version of the Fronx, the Toyota Taisor is sold in five total variants with the E trim being the base and the V being the top end. Today, with the help of a YouTube video uploaded by Car Quest, we will talk about what the most affordable E trim of the Urban Cruiser Taisor offers.

First, let’s talk about the pricing. The ex-showroom price of the base E variant is Rs. 7.74 lakhs. On the other hand, the base trim of the Fronx is priced at Rs. 7.51 lakhs which is Rs. 23,000 less. The top end trim of the Taisor is priced at Rs. 13.04 lakhs ex-showroom.

The video starts with the front profile of the car. At the front, the Taisor features a mesh style grille with a chrome strip. Being, the base variant, DRLs and LED headlamps are not offered. The headlamps are single projector based halogen units. Central locking and remote lock/unlock is offered as standard.

At the side, the ORVMs, door handles and the roof rails are black. The indicators instead of being on the ORVMs are placed on the fenders. The ORVMs have to be adjusted and folded manually but a major downside is that the ORVMs need to be adjusted by touching the glass which is a major inconvenience. The car rides on 16-inch steel rims. A thick black body cladding follows around the car to give it a SUV like appearance.

In the rear profile, the car comes with LED taillights. The higher variants of the Taisor offer connected taillights which are missing here. A good thing is that the rear defogger and reverse parking sensors are offered as standard.

Now, let’s talk about the features of the cabin. The interior of the Taisor comes with a brown and black color combination. Five adjustable headrests, all four power windows, 60:40 split seats, one touch down for driver’s window, twin dial instrument cluster with a MID and auto AC are offered as standard in the Taisor. A major downside of this trim is that the height of driver’s seat cannot be adjusted. The steering wheel does not have any mounted controls but it is flat bottom.

The car is available with two petrol engine options and there is no choice for diesel. The first engine is a regular 1.2-litre naturally aspirated four cylinder petrol which produces 90 PS of power and 113 Nm of torque. Transmission options with this engine include a 5-speed manual and a 5-speed AMT.

The second engine option is a much powerful 1.0-litre three cylinder turbo petrol engine which delivers 100 PS of power and 148 Nm of torque. This engine can be opted with a 5-speed manual or a 6-speed automatic transmission. A company fitted CNG powertrain option is also available with power figures of 77 PS and 98.5 Nm.

However, the base E trim is only offered with the four cylinder engine and the manual transmission. Additionally, you can only buy the E trim if you want to buy the Taisor with the CNG powertrain.
